What is PointWiseSystem?
PointWiseSystem is a simple, points-based system designed to encourage positive habits, thoughtful choices, and responsible decision-making. Users earn points for positive actions and redeem them for meaningful rewards chosen by the administrator. No banking, no real currency, no complexity - just a clear system that turns everyday actions into motivation.
What is an "Earner"?
An Earner is anyone or any group that earns points in your system. An Earner can be:
- A person - Individual child, student, team member, or participant
- A team - Group of people working together (e.g., "Blue Team", "Room 5")
- A class - Classroom or group (e.g., "3rd Grade", "Soccer Team")
- Any entity - Whatever makes sense for your setting
Each Earner has their own point balance and can redeem rewards independently. You can add as many Earners as your subscription allows.
First Time Setup

Create Your Account
Sign up with your email and create a secure password. You'll also set a 4-digit PIN to protect the settings page.

Add Your Earners
Click the โ๏ธ settings button, enter your PIN, and add each earner's name.

Customize Tasks & Rewards
In settings, edit the default tasks and rewards to match your family's preferences.

Return to the dashboard and start awarding points for good behavior.
๐ฏUsing the Dashboard
The dashboard is where the magic happens! Each earner has their own column showing their current points and available rewards.

Toggle view-only mode for tablets. Hides settings/logout buttons so earners can safely view points.
๐ Refresh Button
Updates all points and rewards. The page auto-refreshes every 30 seconds.

Opens the admin settings page (requires PIN). Manage earners, tasks, and rewards here.

Opens this help guide with detailed instructions and tips.
Adding Points
Each earner's section has green task buttons for quick point additions:
- Click a green task button - Pre-configured tasks like "Make your bed (+5)"
- Custom task entry - Type a description and point value for one-time tasks
- Confirmation required - The earner must confirm "Yes" before points are added
๐ก Tip: Let your earners click the buttons themselves! It teaches them responsibility and makes them feel involved in the process.
Redeeming Rewards
Rewards are organized into four categories:
- ๐งธ Small Everyday Rewards (10-50 pts) - Quick treats and privileges
- ๐ Medium Rewards (75-200 pts) - Special activities and outings
- ๐ Big Goals (300-800 pts) - Major rewards worth saving for
- ๐ Quality Time Rewards - Special time with parents
When a earner has enough points:
- Reward buttons turn blue (disabled buttons are gray)
- Click the reward button
- Earner confirms they want to redeem it
- Points are automatically deducted

What is Kiosk Mode?
Kiosk Mode is perfect for tablets that stay mounted in your home 24/7. It allows earners to view their points and available rewards without requiring constant PIN entry from parents.
How to Use Kiosk Mode

Enable Kiosk Mode
Click the ๐ฅ๏ธ Kiosk Mode button in the header. The button turns green and shows "๐ฅ๏ธ Exit Kiosk".

Earners Can View Safely
A "๐ View Only" indicator appears. Earners can see points and rewards, but Settings/Help/Logout buttons are hidden.

Exit When Needed
Parents click ๐ฅ๏ธ Exit Kiosk to restore all controls and add points.

Accessing Settings
Click the โ๏ธ button on the dashboard. You'll be prompted to enter your 4-digit PIN. This keeps earners from accessing admin features.
๐ก Security Tip: Your PIN is required each time you open a new browser tab. This prevents earners from accessing settings if you leave your computer unlocked.
Managing Earners
Add new earners to your family account. Each earner gets their own point tracker and can earn rewards independently.
Customizing Tasks
Edit the green task buttons that appear on the dashboard:
- Task name - What the earner needs to do
- Point value - How many points they earn
- Add new tasks or delete ones you don't use
Customizing Rewards
Personalize rewards for your family:
- Edit reward names and point costs
- Add family-specific rewards (e.g., "Trip to grandma's house")
- Remove rewards your earners aren't interested in
- Adjust point costs based on your family's earning rate
Removing Points
Sometimes you need to subtract points for bad behavior:
- Select the earner from the dropdown
- Enter a reason (e.g., "Didn't clean room after reminder")
- Enter the number of points to remove
- Confirm the action
โ ๏ธ Use Sparingly: Removing points should be rare. The system works best when focused on positive reinforcement!
๐ Redemption History
View and manage all rewards that have been redeemed:
- Filter by earner - View redemptions for all earners or a specific earner
- Refund button - Click "Refund" to return points and hide the redemption (if reward wasn't delivered or was redeemed by mistake)
- Hide old entries - Click "Hide History (30+ days old)" to clean up the list
๐ก How Refunds Work: When you refund a redemption, the points are automatically returned to the earner's balance. The redemption is hidden from the list but not deleted from the database.
๐ Manual Points History
View and manage all manually added/removed points:
- Filter by earner - View transactions for all earners or a specific earner
- Remove button - Click "Remove" to hide a transaction (if it was added by mistake)
- Hide old entries - Click "Hide History (30+ days old)" to clean up the list
- Color-coded - Green for points added, red for points removed
โ ๏ธ Important: Removing a transaction hides it from the list and adjusts the earner's point balance accordingly. This action cannot be undone, but you can always add the points back manually if needed.
Subscription Management
View your current subscription plan, usage, and manage your subscription:
- Plan details - See your current tier (Free or Plus)
- Usage tracking - Monitor how many earners you've added vs. your plan limit
- Upgrade/Cancel - Change your subscription or cancel (access remains until end of billing period)

For Families (Family Profile)
- Start small - Begin with just a few tasks and rewards, then expand as your family gets comfortable
- Be consistent - Award points immediately when tasks are completed
- Let earners choose - Allow earners to pick their own rewards from the available options
- Adjust as needed - If points are too easy or hard to earn, adjust task values in settings
- Celebrate milestones - Make a big deal when earners redeem big rewards they've saved for
- Keep it positive - Focus on earning points for good behavior rather than losing points for bad behavior
- Use Kiosk Mode - Enable it on tablets so earners can check their progress throughout the day
- Review history regularly - Check Redemption History and Manual Points History to track patterns
For Teachers (Classroom Profile)
- Use team-based earners - Create table groups or teams to encourage collaboration

Where to Find Insights
Insights are located in the Settings page under the "๐ Insights & Analytics" section. You'll also find email preferences for weekly reports in the "๐ง Email Preferences" section.

Weekly Progress Reports
Plus subscribers can opt-in to receive a weekly email summary every Sunday evening. The report includes:
- Streak updates - Current and longest streaks for all earners
- Top tasks of the week - Most completed tasks
- Points summary - Total points earned this week vs. last week
- Encouragement - Motivational insights based on progress
๐ก How to Enable Weekly Reports: Go to Settings โ Email Preferences โ Toggle "Weekly Progress Reports" on. You can turn it off anytime.

What are Profiles?
When you register, you choose a profile that matches how you'll use PointWiseSystem. Each profile comes with pre-configured tasks and rewards tailored to that setting.

Can I Change My Profile?
Yes! Go to Settings and find the "Your Profile" section. Click "Change Profile" to switch to a different profile. Note that this will replace your current tasks and rewards with the new profile's defaults, but your earners and their points will not be affected.
๐ก Pro Tip: Choose the profile that best matches your primary use case. You can always customize tasks and rewards later if you have a Plus subscription.
๐งTroubleshooting
I forgot my PIN
Contact support at the email shown in your account. For security, PINs can only be reset by an administrator with proper verification.
Points aren't updating
Click the ๐ refresh button. The page auto-refreshes every 30 seconds, but you can manually refresh anytime.
Reward button is disabled
Gray buttons mean the earner doesn't have enough points yet. Keep earning!
I accidentally redeemed the wrong reward
Go to Settings (with your PIN) and find the "๐ Redemption History" section. Click the "Refund" button next to the incorrect redemption. The points will be automatically returned to the earner's balance, and they can redeem the correct reward.
I added points by mistake
Go to Settings (with your PIN) and find the "๐ Manual Points History" section. Click the "Remove" button next to the incorrect transaction. The points will be automatically deducted from the earner's balance.
How do I clean up old history?
In Settings, both the Redemption History and Manual Points History sections have a "Hide History (30+ days old)" button. This will hide all entries older than 30 days to keep your lists clean and manageable.
Can I use Kiosk Mode on multiple tablets?
Yes! Each tablet/browser has its own Kiosk Mode setting stored locally. You can have one tablet in Kiosk Mode (for earners) and another in normal mode (for parents) at the same time.
Can multiple people use the same account?
Yes! Anyone with the login credentials can access the dashboard. However, only people with the PIN can access settings.

It depends on your subscription plan:
- Free Plan: 1 earner

Can I use this on my phone?

Do points expire?
No, points never expire. Earners can save up as long as they want.

Currently, all earners see the same rewards. However, you can add age-appropriate rewards and let each earner know which ones are for them.
What if siblings fight over rewards?
Each earner has their own point balance. They can't spend each other's points, so there's no competition for the same pool of points.
Can I print a reward chart?
You can take a screenshot of the dashboard or use your browser's print function to create a physical reference.
What happens if my subscription expires?
If your paid subscription expires, your account will be downgraded to the Free plan. You'll keep all your data, but you'll be limited to 1 earner and won't be able to customize tasks/rewards. Any earners beyond the limit will be disabled until you upgrade again. You'll also only see the last 3 days of history instead of unlimited history.
Is my data safe?
Yes! All data is encrypted and stored securely. Each family's data is completely isolated - you can only see your own earners and points. Your PIN is required to access settings, and redemptions require PIN confirmation.
